When you are not fed love on a silver spoon, you learn to lick it off knives.

A closer look

Hello, my name is Sammy

I am a self-taught independent artist from Lebanon with over a decade of experience in the film industry. My work spans directing, video editing, and creating 2D illustrations for films and advertising campaigns. I love experimenting with different styles, colours, and forms, drawing inspiration from painters, cinema, and my cultural heritage. Through this collection, I invite you on a short journey into my creative world and offer a glimpse into my art.

Sammy's favourite design

We asked Sammy to pick one design and share it with everyone

I deliberately set this piece in a bathtub to hold the vulnerability of the moment. The playful ghost covering the mirror knows about my body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) and is shielding me from looking at my reflection. The small white creature is me. The oversized rubber duck represents my childhood, something that seems to have grown bigger and bigger as I've gotten older.

On the right, there's a door waiting for the rabbit to enter, with a clock above it striking midnight, signalling that his arrival is near. On the left, I've drawn my own little white rabbit, perhaps to appease him, but also to show that I'm aware he's coming.

Waiting for the White Rabbit is the first piece in a four-part series that emerged from a particularly difficult period in my life. Through it, I nod to Alice following the White Rabbit into a world turned upside down, using that journey as a way to explore my own mental and emotional landscape.
