Behind the Artwork

Set at a fair, where the rabbits have become carved wooden carousel pieces. Sammy sits on one of them, in the light, "the version of me that was strong enough to still make it, to show up, to try again and again." In the darker part of the piece, a small ghostly monster represents the sorrow and pain she used to hide out of fear of being too much. "This time, instead of hiding it, I decided to play with it."
I Befriended the White Rabbits is the final piece in a four-part series born out of a rough stretch mentally, when Sammy gave a nod to Alice following the rabbit down into a world turned upside down.
