Behind the Artwork

For Pauline, this piece is about more than the ritual of making Lebanese coffee, it's about the ritual of connection that surrounds it. The drawing follows the physical process of making the coffee, but woven through it are the conversations that come with it: a host asking her guests how they take theirs, someone inviting another person over for a cup, a neighbor being called in to join. Coffee, she says, is rarely something you drink alone. In Lebanese culture, offering it is an act of love and hospitality, a whole ritual built around making someone feel wanted. Sometimes, she says, people don't know how to say what they feel out loud, but they know how to pour a cup and hand it to you. The question in the title carries a second meaning underneath the first: I will always like it with you.

About the artist

Pauline Njeim

Pauline Njeim is a graphic designer and visual communicator by day, and an illustrator and artist by night. Passionate about drawing, she enjoys experimenting with lines, dots, and colours, transforming simple marks into meaningful visual expressions. For Pauline, art is a space of endless possibilities, where there are no wrong lines, colours, or strokes, only opportunities for discovery and creation.

Art is the most important part of her life. It is what nourishes her soul, brings her back to herself, and allows her to connect deeply with her emotions. Through her creative practice, Pauline explores both playfulness and introspection, using visual language as a way to express, reflect, and connect.
