Behind the Artwork

The piece came from one specific moment: on a flight back home, looking out the window while the plane was still over Europe, still far from home. Before she could even see the country, Pauline felt an overwhelming excitement, seeing her parents again, being back with her family, and she started drawing right there. The plane and the sky hold that anticipation. The flowers at the center are the ones she always sees on her grandmother's balcony and in front of their building, the ones her father used to water every week, small details that instantly mean home to her. The hearts surrounding the piece stand for the love and the bond of family, a reminder, she says, that home is never only a place. It's the people who give the place its meaning. Without them, she says, the journey back would never carry the same weight.

About the artist

Pauline Njeim

Pauline Njeim is a graphic designer and visual communicator by day, and an illustrator and artist by night. Passionate about drawing, she enjoys experimenting with lines, dots, and colours, transforming simple marks into meaningful visual expressions. For Pauline, art is a space of endless possibilities, where there are no wrong lines, colours, or strokes, only opportunities for discovery and creation.

Art is the most important part of her life. It is what nourishes her soul, brings her back to herself, and allows her to connect deeply with her emotions. Through her creative practice, Pauline explores both playfulness and introspection, using visual language as a way to express, reflect, and connect.
