A closer look

Hello, my name is Nour Arkilo

My name, Nour, is Arabic for 'light'. As beautiful as that sounds, I've always felt that it comes with a quiet responsibility. Through my art, I hope to bring a little more light into the world by creating pieces that spark joy, offer comfort, inspire curiosity, or simply make someone smile.

If my work leaves even one person feeling a little lighter than they did before, then it has done exactly what I hoped it would.

We asked Nour Arkilo to pick one design and share it with everyone

My camera roll is filled with photos of the sky. For some reason, looking up at the clouds always makes me happy. It helps me forget everything else for a little while, in the most beautiful way.

Three years ago, I lost my little cousin, who had Down syndrome. On his memorial keepsake was a sentence that has stayed with me ever since, and is now tattooed on my arm:

"الحياة لا تعرف الكمال إلا بالحب"

Life knows no perfection except through love.

Since then, looking up at the sky has taken on a deeper meaning. It's a reminder that I have an angel watching over me, and that love never truly leaves us. I try to live by those words every day, and I hope they resonate with you too. A gentle reminder to reflect on what really matters in life, and on how simple, yet powerful, it can be to love one another.
