Sses

This artwork started with a Pinterest binge, a photo of women standing with their backs turned, in swimsuits, all in a row. It reminded Noémie of something she'd done herself once: a selfie with friends where their cleavage was the only thing anyone would notice, so she'd cropped their faces out and shared exactly what people were already looking at. When she saw the Pinterest image, she did the same thing on paper, drew only the S-curves of the women's bodies, side by side, anonymous. “There's an erotic charge to it, of course, but I don't see it as something heavy. I see it as playful. You don't even know whose curve is whose, just legs and bodies that get to walk around freely, without a face attached.”
